Cuff the Duke
Cuff the Duke is a little bit country, but oh no - not in that way. This tight little fourtet from "near" Toronto, espouses all the good in country and blends it seemlessly into a grinding, powerful and emotional cocktail of Rock and Roll. I have yet to see them live, but according to Chauncey they are "The greatest show he has seen in his life". Their sound is a harder Blue Rodeo/Skydiggers, they'd be a great back-up band for Ryan Adams, throw in some Sloan...Neil Young meets Johnny Cash? I hate describing
music like this, but sometimes it helps, no doubt I'll hear a lot of corrections on my calls. Bottom line, download this album and watch out for "Ballad of a Lonely Construction Worker" an epic ballad that will get you drunk. When I do see these guys live I hope it's in Sudbury at the infamous Townhouse Tavern, I'll have a Jumbo bottle of the "numbers" in my hand and be stompin a hole in the plywood floor.
